CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF GOVERNANCE AFRICA (CiGA) is a group of professionals of diverse backgrounds dedicated to the promotion and sharing of knowledge on best practices in governance, leadership, risk, and compliance (GLRC), and organizational development.
Under the oversight of the Board of Directors, the Executive Council shall be responsible for policy and strategic direction of the Institute. In view of this, the Executive Council shall be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Institute.
The Board of Directors shall be the highest decision making body of the Institute, charged with the primary responsibility of maintaining oversight over the Executive Council/Management, constraining Executive action in the pursuit of policy and strategic direction of the Institute, guided by the spirit of ensuring ultimate accountability. The Board shall be headed by a Chairperson, who shall be appointed by the Institute amongst Members of the Board
The Council shall be composed of Research Fellows, headed by a Dean, no less than the rank of a Professor, renowned in a chosen endeavour and reputed with superior quality of leading institutional advancement and social transformation and renewal.
The Council shall be responsible for accreditation and affiliation with local and international partner institutions for collaboration and cooperation on professional programmes and continuous professional development. It shall also be responsible for issuance of certification to qualified Members in good standing. The Council shall be headed by a Member of the Council of Fellows, no less the rank of a Professor, renowned in a chosen endeavour related to GLRC, policy and strategy or organizational development.
The Institute shall maintain a Register of Members. The Register shall contain details of Members, including names, addresses, and occupation; date of admission, and any other details of Members that are deemed relevant and necessary.
The Institute shall establish a well-Resourced Centre with rich content and contextual relevance in areas related to GLRC, strategy and policy, and organizational development to enhance continuous professional development of Members. The Resource Centre shall be stocked with latest state-of-the-art books, articles, magazines, white papers, demand driven webinars, research papers, and podcasts.
